Geoff Walker will be on the bench for Canada's Matt Dunstone at the upcoming World Men's Curling Championship.

Team Dunstone announced Tuesday on social media that Walker will be their alternate for the event, set to take place from March 27 to April 4 in Ogden, Utah.

Jake Horgan was the team's alternate during the Montana's Brier, however, he will be competing with Kira Brunton in the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, March 21-27, in Surrey, B.C.

Walker was the longtime lead for iconic skip Brad Gushue, who stepped back from men's curling after finishing fourth earlier this month at the Brier in his hometown of St. John's, N.L.

The 40-year-old Walker, who lives in Edmonton, won an Olympic bronze medal, six Brier titles and 14 Grand Slams with Gushue. He also earned one gold and four silver medals at the World Men's Curling Championship during his tenure.

Walker will continue playing on tour with Brendan Bottcher, who spent the past two seasons throwing second for Gushue and is returning to the skip position. Jake and Tanner Horgan will play third and second, respectively, on the new Alberta-based team.

Dunstone captured his first men's national championship at the Brier, defeating Kevin Koe 6-3 in the final, and looks to win Canada's first gold medal at the men's worlds since Gushue in 2017.
