The field is taking shape for the GSOC Invitational.

The Grand Slam of Curling announced Friday the first 12 men's teams and 12 women's teams that will compete in its opening event of the 2026-27 season, running Oct. 13-18 at Victoria's Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Leading the way are the top-ranked defending champions Team Homan in the women's division and Team Mouat in the men's division. While Team Homan will look to run it back in 2026-27, Team Mouat is among those with revamped rosters to begin the new Olympic cycle, adding former Team Whyte third Robin Brydone. Meanwhile, Team Whyte is now Team Hardie, as Grant Hardie has moved over from Team Mouat to throw third stones and skip the squad.

Homan and Mouat were victorious last season when the event was known as the Tour Challenge.

Canadian fans will be keeping a close eye on reigning national champions Team Einarson and Team Dunstone. Both made lineup changes during the off-season, with Einarson adding Jocelyn Peterman at lead, and Dunstone recruiting Mark Nichols to throw second stones.

Olympic gold medallists Team Hasselborg and Team Jacobs also highlight the entry list.

Victoria will be well represented with Team MacMillan and Team Reese-Hansen competing in the women's division. Team MacMillan landed one of the top free agents of the summer, adding eight-time Grand Slam title winner Val Sweeting to play third. It’ll be the Grand Slam major debut for Reese-Hansen, who captured a Tier 2 title in the series last season. New Team Koe third Johnson Tao, who grew up in Richmond, B.C., will also be making his Grand Slam major debut in the men's division.

The Grand Slam of Curling's competition committee selected the initial 12 men's and 12 women's teams for the event. Both divisions will include four additional teams from the GSOC's Satellite Events series. Winners of the Euro Super Series, AMJ Shorty Jenkins Classic, Karuizawa International and the Prestige Hotels & Resorts Curling Classic tour events will receive invites to the GSOC Invitational to round out the 16-team fields. Should the winners have already qualified, the invitation will go to the runner-up or highest-place semifinalist.

The GSOC Invitational is the first of five Grand Slam of Curling events during the 2026-27 season. The format and match schedule will be unveiled closer to the event start date.
