History of the GSOC National

The GSOC National is one of the four charter events in the series and was first held as a men's invitational in 2002. Glenn Howard skipped his squad to the inaugural title in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Howard, Kevin Martin and Brad Gushue have won the most National men's titles at the skip position, with four apiece.

Mark Nichols has won the most among all players with five, capturing four with Gushue and one with skip Jeff Stoughton.

A women's division for the event was created in 2015, with Rachel Homan claiming the first title in Oshawa, Ontario, defeating future teammate Tracy Fleury in the final.

Homan holds the record for most GSOC National women's titles as a skip with four, including last season's event in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Bruce Mouat skipped his team to the men's title at that tournament, branded as the GSOC Tahoe, edging Matt Dunstone by three millimetres during a thrilling draw-to-the-button shootout in the final.
