BEAUMONT, AB (August 8, 2025) — Curling’s brightest young stars are set to descend on Beaumont this Fall, with the Grand Slam of Curling today revealing the teams for the upcoming inaugural Jr. GSOC U25 and U15 events to be held October 16-19, 2025.

The five-day U25 event will take place at Beaumont Curling Club from October 16-19, featuring 16 men’s and 16 women’s teams competing in a round robin format. The U15 side will see eight teams compete from October 16-19. The finals for both events will be held at the Silent Ice Centre in Nisku, AB, on Sunday, Oct. 19, alongside the Grand Slam of Curling finals, featuring the world’s top curling teams (for more about the 2025 Tour Challenge, please see below).

“The curling landscape has changed immensely over the past years, and we are seeing more and more promising young athletes step away from the sport because they can’t see a path forward, whether it be financially or competitively,” said John Morris, two-time Olympic gold medallist and strategic advisor to The Curling Group. “Through these new Grand Slam grassroots initiatives, we hope to provide a springboard for these young teams to gain meaningful competitive experience, shining a light on young athletes as they move to the next stage of their curling careers.”

Competing U25 and U15 teams were asked to submit applications in early summer to be considered for the tournament. Alberta will be well-represented with 17 of the 30 Canadian teams competing in the events hailing from the host province. The international field also includes four teams from the United States, three teams from Scotland, two from Japan and one from South Korea. A full team list can be found here.

The Jr. GSOC events are part of a broader Grand Slam of Curling initiative focused on developing the next generation of curling stars during the 2025–26 season, with Tier 2 events in London and Saskatoon offering 32 additional teams the chance to gain valuable experience, sharpen their skills, and earn points as they work toward the next stage of their competitive careers.
