The Pan Continental Curling Championships will not return next season following an overhaul of the competition schedule by World Curling for the new Olympic cycle.
The governing body announced on Tuesday a full slate of changes to its event schedule designed to "enhance global competitions, streamline qualification pathways, and expand opportunities for (Member Associations) across all levels of the sport."
Both the World Men's and World Women's Curling Championships will expand from 13 teams to 18. Instead of a full round-robin, teams will be split up into two groups for pool play. The group winners advance to the semifinals, with the second-place and third-place teams crossing over to face off in a qualification round.
World Curling is also introducing relegation to the events, with the bottom four teams sliding down to the World Curling Championships B-Division, which will be held in November. The top four teams from the B-Division move up to the main championships, with the bottom four relegated to regional C-Divisions taking place at the end of the season.
The World Junior Curling Championships have been revised as well, expanding to 16 teams per gender with two pools of eight teams. Also, all games will be played to eight ends instead of 10.
Although the Pan Continental Curling Championships will be dropped, the European Curling Championships will remain as a standalone event in October.
The 2025 edition of the Pan Continental Curling Championships is set to begin Monday in Virginia, Minn. Team Jacobs and Team Homan will represent Canada in the event.
