Scotland’s top two men’s teams are undergoing a major shuffle for next season.
British Curling announced Monday that Grant Hardie, who spent the past nine seasons as the vice skip for Bruce Mouat, will now throw third stones and handle skip duties alongside fourth Ross Whyte, second Craig Waddell and lead Euan Kyle.
Robin Brydone, who previously played third on Team Whyte, will replace Hardie on Team Mouat.
Hardie and his cousin, lead Hammy McMillan Jr., linked up with Mouat and second Bobby Lammie in 2017 and won two Olympic silver medals, two world championships, four European championships and 12 Grand Slam of Curling titles during their nine-year run.
They captured the 2017 National in their first Grand Slam event altogether, with Mouat making history as the youngest skip to win a men's title in the series at age 23.
The team entered the record books again during 2024-25 as the first team to win four Grand Slam of Curling titles in a single season.
Mouat, ranked No. 1 in the world, claimed two Grand Slam titles this past season, winning back-to-back at the CO-OP Tour Challenge and KIOTI GSOC Tahoe.
Team Mouat was selected to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina and earned the silver medal after losing to Canada in the final. Mouat also took home silver in Beijing in 2022.
All four members also competed on different franchises during the debut season of Rock League in April. Hardie played with Frontier Curling Club and defeated Mouat's Northern United rink when their men's fours teams faced off in the round robin.
The 34-year-old Hardie skipped his own squad on tour before joining Team Mouat and also skipped Scotland to gold at the 2017 World Mixed Curling Championship.
He now joins forces with Whyte, whose team won a third consecutive Scottish men’s title and the bronze medal at the World Men’s Curling Championship this year. Whyte, ranked No. 5 in the world, has captured two Grand Slam titles, including the Players’ Championship this past January.
Brydone, 29, won the 2016 world junior title with Mouat as the alternate, and the pair played together on Northern United in Rock League.
British Curling also announced Duncan McFadzean will prioritize mixed doubles with Sophie Jackson. McFadzean previously played second on Team Whyte but missed most of last season while recovering from a knee injury. McFadzean and Jackson won the Scottish mixed doubles title together in 2024 and were runners-up in 2023 and 2025.
Jennifer Dodds will also be shifting to full-time mixed doubles duty. Dodds won the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in 2021 with Mouat, and the pair have represented Great Britain in the discipline at the past two Olympic Winter Games.
Three-time reigning Scottish champ Fay Henderson will skip the lone women's team as part of British Curling's world class program. Sophie Sinclair, formerly with Rebecca Morrison's team, will join Team Henderson as a fifth player.
Kyle Waddell's men's team will remain intact for next season. Waddell finished runner-up to Whyte at the Crown Royal Players' Championship and the Scottish men's championship this season. He also served as the alternate for Team Mouat at international competitions.
