Swiss squads top the charts in the points race to qualify for the GSOC Players' Cup.

The season's final Grand Slam of Curling event — taking place Dec. 15-20 at Slush Puppie Place in Kingston, Ontario — will feature 12 men's teams and 12 women's teams based on the new GSOC points system.

Teams accumulate points based on their results across the Grand Slam of Curling and Satellite Events during the fall.

A team's best six event results will count, regardless of the combination of Grand Slams and Satellite Events (e.g., five Satellite Events and one Grand Slam, four Grand Slams and two Satellite Events).

The qualification cutoff date is Dec. 7.

Switzerland's Team Alina Pätz leads the way in the women's division, thanks to three straight title wins at the Euro Super Series, Stu Sells Oakville Tankard and AMJ Shorty Jenkins Classic. Pätz defeated fellow Swiss rink Team Xenia Schwaller in all three finals.

Schwaller, who is in second place in the women's standings, got revenge during last week's Co-op Invitational, the season's first GSOC event in Victoria, topping Pätz in the preliminary round and again in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Switzerland's Team Marco Hösli is in first place in the men's division. Hösli won last month's Prestige Hotels and Resorts Curling Classic in Vernon, B.C., to qualify for the 16th and final men's spot in the Co-op Invitational. It was a career-best GSOC event for Hösli, who advanced to the playoff round in the series for the first time in 11 tries.

Switzerland's Team Yannick Schwaller sits second after opening the season with back-to-back wins at the Baden Masters and Euro Super Series and capturing the Co-op Invitational men's title.
