Tuesday's featured games
Edmonton's Serena Gray-Withers will make her Grand Slam major debut, taking on the reigning world champion Xenia Schwaller of Switzerland in Draw 2 (12 p.m. EST / 11 a.m. ABT). Gray-Withers won the Jr. GSOC U25 women's title last season in Nisku, Alberta.
Meanwhile, Xenia's cousin Yannick Schwaller begins his quest for a second consecutive Grand Slam title when his Swiss squad takes on Evan Van Amsterdam's team from Edmonton in Draw 3 (4 p.m. EST / 3 p.m. ABT). The Geneva-based club, ranked No. 1 in the world, captured the GSOC Co-op Invitational just a little over two weeks ago in Victoria. Van Amsterdam will be making his Grand Slam series debut.
John Epping and Brendan Bottcher's new-look teams square off in the evening draw (8 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. ABT). Bottcher returned to skipping this season after spending the previous two years playing second for Brad Gushue. He retained Geoff Walker from Team Gushue and added Jake and Tanner Horgan (both formerly with Epping) to his Edmonton-based club. Epping and Ian McMillan stayed together, adding B.J. Neufeld and Ryan Wiebe to form the new Winnipeg-based team. This will be the first time the teams meet this season.
