Isabella Wranå and her Swedish squad rolled through the Karuizawa International in Japan to win the women's title.

Wranå posted a perfect 7-0 record to claim a second consecutive championship of the tour season, capped with a 6-2 victory over South Korea's Kyeong-ae Kim, skipping Bo-bae Kang's team, in Sunday's final.

The win came three weeks after Team Wranå completed an undefeated run to capture the Oslo Cup in Norway.

South Korea's Team Seung-youn Ha defeated Japan's Team Ikue Kitazawa 7-4 in the bronze medal game.

Meanwhile, Karuizawa's Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi was victorious on home ice, scoring a deuce in the eighth end to lift his team to a 4-3 win over Team Takumi Maeda in the all-Japanese men's final.

Sweden's Team Oskar Eriksson topped Japan's Team Kaito Fujii 5-2 to finish third.

Silver lining for Kim, Maeda

As part of the new GSOC Satellite Events series, this season's Karuizawa International serves as a qualifier for the GSOC Co-op Invitational taking place Oct. 13-18 at Victoria's Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Since the GSOC competition committee had already selected Wranå and Yamaguchi to compete in the tournament, the Karuizawa qualifier invites will pass to runners-up Kim and Maeda, should they accept.

Kim, who joined Team Kang this season, was Eun-jung Kim's longtime third, earning silver medals at the Winter Olympics and the World Women's Curling Championship. Kang is focusing on the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship after winning the national title in June.
