Selena Sturmay rode the steal train to victory in the Autumn Gold Curling Classic.
Sturmay and her Edmonton club swiped four points over the final three ends to defeat South Korea's Team Eun-ji Gim 7-3 in Sunday's final in Okotoks, Alberta.
Tied 3-all after five, Sturmay stole the go-ahead point in the sixth, followed by two in the seventh and one more in the eighth.
The win guarantees Sturmay an invite to a Grand Slam of Curling tournament in her home province. The Autumn Gold Curling Classic is part of the new Satellite Events series, with the winner qualifying for the GSOC Masters, Nov. 3-8, at Co-op Place in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Sturmay, who entered the week ranked 17th in the world, got out to a 2-2 start in the tournament to fall into the C-Event of the triple knockout. Her team won five straight games with elimination on the line, including victories over Team Kerri Einarson in the quarterfinals and Team Xenia Schwaller in the semifinals, to reach the championship match.
Gim, who was the four-time reigning Autumn Gold champion, had just won the Prestige Hotels and Resorts Curling Classic in Vernon, B.C., during the previous weekend.
It's the third title of the season for Sturmay, who also claimed the Asham Icebreaker in Morris, Manitoba, and the Saville Grand Prix on home ice in Edmonton.
