The top teams from around the world are set to shine in Saskatoon for the HearingLife Canadian Open.
The Grand Slam of Curling announced Friday the teams competing in its fourth Grand Slam of Curling event of the season, taking place Dec. 16-21 at Merlis Belsher Place.
Full-event and weekend passes plus single draw tickets are now available. Visit GSOCtickets.com for more information.
Both men’s and women’s divisions feature 16 teams. The top 14 teams based on the World Curling team rankings as of Nov. 11 were invited to participate. The Grand Slam of Curling reserves the right to implement possible sponsors’ exemptions in both the men’s and women’s divisions, in which two spots could be filled at their discretion. Team Gushue and Team Kleiter (men's division) plus Team Morrison and Team Constantini (women's division) were invited to complete the field.
New for 2025, the HearingLife Canadian Open will also include a Tier 2 division, providing 32 additional teams the opportunity to sharpen their skills and earn points. The Tier 2 will run Dec. 16-20 at the Martensville Curling Club in Martensville, Sask., with the finals taking place alongside the Tier 1 finals on Dec. 21 at Merlis Belsher Place.
Draw schedules for the Tier 1 and Tier 2 events will be announced in the near future.
Teams will play four games during the preliminary round: three against the teams within their pool, plus one crossover game.
Teams in Pool A will play teams in Pool D, and teams in Pool B will play teams in Pool C for the crossover. Teams seeded No. 1-4 will play their crossover game against teams seeded No. 13-16 in the opposite pool. Teams seeded No. 5-8 will play their crossover game against teams seeded No. 9-12 in the opposite pool.
