The GSOC National will be a homecoming event for Christina Black.
The Sydney-born skip will get the opportunity to play on home ice when her team competes in the Grand Slam of Curling tournament taking place Nov. 17-22 at Centre 200.
Black, whose Halifax-based club received a sponsor’s exemption, said she’s so excited for the event.
"I’ve dreamed about competing at Centre 200 in front of my hometown crowd for years, and it’s going to be unreal to finally have that opportunity," Black said. "Cape Bretoners know how to put on an event, they are the best fans in the world, and I can’t wait to be a part of it."
Black, who earned bronze at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in 2025, had the crowd on her side when her team reached the final of the Canadian Olympic curling trials last season in Halifax.
Team Black enters the season ranked 19th in the world and includes third Jill Brothers, second Marlee Powers, lead Lindsey Burgess and alternate Karlee Everist.
The GSOC National will feature 16 men's teams and 16 women's teams. Both divisions will consist of 12 teams from the world rankings, two GSOC/sponsor's invites and two winners from the Satellite Events series. Additional teams will be announced closer to the event start date.
