It’s easy to forget that John Cullen played curling at a competitive level because he has become more known for his media exploits than his curling game recently. A three-time B.C. finalist, Cullen has been doing some form of curling media for the past 15 years, the most notable of which was Broomgate: A Curling Scandal, a CBC podcast that was released to wide critical acclaim and garnered him an Ambie award for Best Sports Podcast.
After gaining some broadcast experience covering the BC Curling Championships and the Canadian Junior Championships, Cullen joined The Curling Group’s streaming coverage in 2024 and became the lead play-by-play voice on Rock Channel. Following that, he made his live television debut with Rock League on CBC in the Spring of 2026, and covered curling as part of CBC’s digital team for the 2026 Olympics. He will be part of The Curling Group’s broadcast team for the 2026-27 season, and he is also the host and producer of their flagship podcast, The Curling Hotline. In addition, Cullen currently serves as the Head of Content for The Curling Group.
