The Tour Challenge will feature a total of 30 men’s and 30 women’s teams broken into two tiers with 15 teams participating in each tier.
Tier 1: The top 15 men’s teams and top 15 women’s teams based on the World Curling Tour’s order of merit (OOM) total rankings as of Oct. 3, 2016, will receive invites for this group. If any team declines, the next ranked team on the OOM list is invited.
Tier 2: After the Tier 1 men’s and women’s lineups has been confirmed Oct. 10, 2016, the next 10 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams on the OOM total rankings will receive Tier 2 invites. To complete the Tier 2 field, five regional invitations will be extended at the discretion of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling to teams within the province or region that the event is being held. The winners of the Tier 2 event will receive a bye to the Canadian Open complete with all travel and accommodation expenses paid.
