The new season of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling will head to Cranbrook, B.C.

The 2016-17 campaign makes it second stop Nov. 8-13 at the Western Financial Place & Memorial Arena for the Tour Challenge.

The Tour Challenge is the biggest event in the series featuring two tiers of men’s and women’s action with 60 teams hitting the ice.

Last year’s inaugural Tour Challenge in Paradise, N.L., saw Calgary’s Team Koe top home-province heroes Team Gushue of St. John’s in an extra end during the men’s final. Team Tirinzoni of Switzerland earned their first career Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title stealing two points in the last end of the women’s final to edge Ottawa’s Team Homan.

Meanwhile, Team Cotter of Vernon, B.C., and Winnipeg’s Team Einarson captured the first Tier 2 titles to qualify for spots to the following Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event.

Teams in the Tour Challenge Tier 1 division also compete for bonus points in the chase for the Rogers Grand Slam Cup, awarded to the overall season champions.

Tier 1 winners are guaranteed berths to the Humpty’s Champions Cup, the season-ending Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event featuring all of the top champions of the year in one final showdown.
