Overton-Clapham joins Team Carey for 2017-18 season
Chelsea Carey’s search for a new third didn’t take too long.
Cathy Overton-Clapham will join Team Carey for the 2017-18 season, the Calgary club announced Wednesday on Twitter.

The news comes just a little over a week after Team Carey third Amy Nixon said she was stepping back from curling following their bronze medal victory over Northern Ontario at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in St. Catharines, Ont.

Overton-Clapham has quite the curling resume with one world and five national championships. The 47-year-old from Winnipeg has been known as a “super spare” in recent years helping Val Sweeting win the 2014 Masters and Eve Muirhead capture the 2016 Players’ Championship and assisting Silvana Tirinzoni in runner-up finishes at the Boost National and Meridian Canadian Open this season.
The team of Carey, Nixon, second Jocelyn Peterman and lead Laine Peters claimed the Scotties Tournament of Hearts last season and came in fourth at the world championship. Finishing just off of the podium meant they did not earn a direct spot to the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Carey returned to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts this season with the Team Canada automatic berth.
