Colton Flasch stepping away from Team Laycock

Colton Flasch has parted ways with Team Steve Laycock.

Flasch, who threw second stones for the Saskatoon squad, decided to step back to revive his love of the sport and spend more time with family and friends according to a statement the team released Thursday.

The 26-year-old Flasch joined Team Laycock in 2012 winning three consecutive Saskatchewan provincial titles from 2014-16 and earning a bronze medal at the Tim Hortons Brier in 2015.

Laycock fell just short of a Saskatchewan four-peat losing to Adam Casey in the SaskTel Tankard final last month.

Flasch also captured the Canadian junior curling championship in 2011 with his Saskatchewan team, skipped by Braeden Moskowy, posting a perfect 13-0 record.

Team Laycock is expected to announce a new second in the following days.
